Bortezomib-induced Apoptosis in the Treatment of Non-small Cell Lung Cancer
نویسندگان
چکیده
Lung cancer, which can be classified into nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancer (SCLC), is the leading cause of cancerrelated death in the world. NSCLC, which accounts for 80 to 85% of all lung cancers, is distinguished from SCLC by its clinical course and its response to chemotherapy and radiotherapy. More than 70% of NSCLC patients present with unresectable locally advanced or metastatic disease, so chemotherapy with or without radiotherapy remains the mainstay of lung cancer treatment. Despite advances in the past few decades, current chemotherapy regimens have only limited efficacy with modest survival benefit and significant toxicity in NSCLC patients. Novel therapies, especially those targeting cell Abstract

A review of the role of dopamine receptors and novel therapeutic strategies in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC)
Lung cancer is a very aggressive and most deadly cancer in both men and women. Lung cancer is divided into two types of small cell lung cancer (SCLC) and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). NSCLC is divided into 3 subgroups: adenocarcinoma (AC), squamous cell carcinoma (SqCC) and large cell carcinoma (LCC). Dopamine is involved in controlling motions, cognition, emotions, memory and reward mech...
متن کاملAnticancer and Apoptotic Effects of Ectoine and Hydroxyectoine on Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer cells: An in-vitro Investigation
Introduction: Streptomyces manage the osmotic stress by collecting compatible solutes or osmolytes. Ectoine, 1,4,5,6-tetrahydro-2-methyl-4-pyrimidine carboxylic acid, and 5-hydroxyectoine are among the most common osmolytes of this bacteria and have an active role in protecting the genetic material of this microorganism as well as providing resistance to environmental pressures. In this researc...

متن کاملTRAIL therapy in non-small cell lung cancer cells: sensitization to death receptor-mediated apoptosis by proteasome inhibitor bortezomib.
Activation of the tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) receptor pathway is a promising therapeutic strategy to selectively eradicate cancer cells, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells. Recombinant human (rh) TRAIL/Apo-2L, a TRAIL-encoding adenovirus, and monoclonal antibodies directed against TRAIL receptors R1 and R2 were used to study cytotoxicity of T...
متن کاملLong non-coding RNA FOXO1 inhibits lung cancer cell growth through down-regulating PI3K/AKT signaling pathway
Objective(s): Lung cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors, which seriously threatens the health and life of the people. Recently, a novel long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) termed lncFOXO1 was found and investigated in breast cancer. However, the effect of lncFOXO1 on lung cancer is still ambiguous. The current study aimed to uncover the functions of lncFOXO1 in l...
متن کاملAtorvastatin Sensitizes Breast and Lung Cancer Cells to Ionizing Radiation
Tumour cells may be resistant to radiotherapy that results in unsuccessful cancer treatment in patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the sensitizing effect of atorvastatin (ATV) on breast cancer (MDA-MB-231) and non-small cell lung cancer (A-549) cells following exposure to ionizing radiation (IR). These cells were treated with ATV and exposed to X-ray at dose 4 Gy. The radiosensitizi...
